Route minders from the Eifelsteig

The Eifelverein association has been tasked by the municipalities and communities which have created the Eifelsteig and its partner routes with maintaining the markings and signs on a long-term basis.

Twice a year, the Eifelsteig route minders walk the entire Eifelsteig from Aachen to Trier in order to check the state of the signs and markings.
Markings are renewed, minor work on cutting free parts of the path is conducted, and any more extensive improvements required are recorded and forwarded to the central route manager.

Our central route manager, Matthias Irle, ensures that the hiking route is repaired quickly and smoothly.
